We had THREE celebrations for Our little Princess...

She has 2 sets of God Parents...

We celebrated her 1st Birthday...

And of course we celebrated her joining our family!!!

The entire day was AWESOME...we had lots of family and friends join us and Elena had a blast - she loved all of the kids but she really LOVED the cake...

I can't say it enough - we are SO BLESSED to have such a wonderful little girl!! Every day I look at her and watch as she learns new things and I am sooooo amazed at all of the smiles and giggles she shares - she is SOOOOO AWESOME!! We are ALL so very much in LOVE...

Our last day in China...

Our last day in China was a day we will NEVER forget!! We went to the US Consulate for our swearing in...

On our last night we did a dinner cruise on the Pearl River - it was a beautiful night, the dinner was good and it was just nice to sit back and relax and enjoy the sights...

Here is a picture of us with our Connie (our guide) as we are leaving to catch our flight home...

I am SO glad that my friend Murry could be there with us through-out this entire experience - she was SO AMAZING and Elena just LOVES her Aunt Murry!!!

Our flight home - we were able to get the seats where we could put the baby in a bassinet - Elena did GREAT for the flight home - she slept for a couple of hours in the bed as well as a couple of hours with me... We had the BEST seats - there was SO much leg room and although Elena couldn't stay in the bed the entire time she was sleeping (because of the turbulence) we were able to use the bed to change her and set stuff in so it was easy to get to - but most of all having the leg room was GREAT!

Elena was easily entertained...

We are SO glad to be home!!!

It was SO GREAT spending time with Mina & Li Li (and of course with the rest of the family as well) - I am sure that Suzy & Del are home enjoying every minute with their daughters!! We are so looking foward to keeping in touch!! Suzy please give the girls a hug for us!!!

It has been a while since I have updated so let me first catch you up on our trip!!

The last I posted we were in Nanchang - let me just say that when we got to Guangzhou it was totally different then Beijing or Nanchang! There were lots of places to visit and a very enjoyable place to walk around!!!

Guangzhou was really nice - one of the things we did was go to the Safari Zoo - it was a lot of fun - the Safari part was great but it was nice walking around and just enjoying the entire day.

We stayed at the Victory and met several really GREAT families!! One of which we got to see almost every morning:

Kim was our entertainer the entire week - she loved to dance and keep the babies smiling!! She was there with her mom and dad to adopt her new little sister Anna. Elena LOVED seeing them every morning at breakfast as well as seeing them out and about. Kim and Anna are probably home now in Australia and we hope to keep in touch with them.

And of course it was GREAT catching up with Suzy & the family...we met for dinner at the Cow & Bridge and it was GREAT - we had a fun time with the kiddos and walked to Starbucks after!! Of course it goes without saying - it was so nice to spend time with them and the girls truly are AMAZING!!! Elena loved playing with them!!

We met a family in the Beijing airport that were going to Nanchang to adopt their second daughter - it was GREAT meeting them and we made plans to catch up in Nanchange!!

Here are some of the things with did:

We went with Suzy & her family to see one of the largest ferris wheels in the world.

We went to the Water show - which was really nice as well!!

A picture of the group - the oldest little girl was Suzy's guide's niece - she was really adorable and the girls really enjoyed having her to play with!

There wasn't really much else to say about Nanchang. I can tell you that the hotel we stayed at was nice but there wasn't much to do outside - although on our last night there we discovered that if we walked approx 4 blocks straight up from our hotel there was a walking mall - we had gone there before but when we had specifically asked to be dropped off by the McDonalds so we didn't know how close it was - it was nice walking around there but we really didn't do much shopping - it was basically all clothes and all of which we could purchase in the states - so I had NO desire to buy anything like that!!

Went to Elena's Orphanage

It was a 3 hour drive one way to Elena's orphanage - I was sooo nervous that Elena might want to go to the nannies and not want to come back to me - but that was not the case - you could tell that we have definitely made a connection with our little girl.

When we arrived at Elena's orphanage - they set off a long strip of fireworks to celebrate Elena coming home to visit. They hung a sign that said Welcome Guo Le Jing Come Back Home again - which they gave to us when we were leaving.

This is the Nanny that took care of Elena at her Orphanage.

Here is Elena's crib - this is where she spent her nights from the time she was born til the day she was introduced to us!!

These pictures are of some of Elena's crib mates. We took pictures of all of the babies that were in both of the rooms that they showed us!! It truly looks as though these babies are being well taken care of but now I can tell why they don't roll over. When the babies are in their cribs - they are tucked in so tight that they can only lay on their backs - they go from the crib to the walkers but that is about all we could see. We could definitely tell that Elena's nanny truly interacts with the babies in her room - and Elena is definite proof of that!!

All of these babies are SO adorable - we were told that a group of 9 babies would be joining their families in the next couple of weeks - of course some of the babies that have been matched are in foster care - so we are not sure which of these babies have found a home.

The entire experience was very exhusting but we are really glad we did it!

Bobby - we took lots of video of all of the different Motorcycle companies that were located on the way to Elena's orphanage - although - I think they are truly more like scooter distributers - the motorcycles that you and your brother have would run circles around anything they are selling here and I am sure they are twice as loud - we can't wait to show you some of the videos. We miss you both very much!! Love You!

We finally have our little Princess

It's so hard to believe that we finally have our little Princess!! We arrived in Nanchang on Sunday and our guide Maggie told us that our baby will be brought up to our room on Monday around 11:00...Talk about a long day/night...

This is our little one being brought into our room...She was in layers and layers - the directors basically dropped Elena off and left. Maggie stayed and we completed a bunch of paperwork but all we wanted to do was unbundle our little one. When she arrived she was sweaty, smelly, crying, had a slight fever and a runny nose but all we knew was that this little bundle was ours...

Elena arrived in our room @ 11:30 and we needed to be back out the door by 2:00 - so in that time we fed, bathed and dressed her and as soon as her belly was content - so was She...she was a completely different child - happy and all smiles!!

This is the first picture of the 3 of us...I really wish the boys were here so we could include them as well!! As you can see - she is a very happy baby!!

Adventures in China

Wow, it's hard to believe that we are finally here!!

We left for China on Thursday, 2/5 and arrived in Beijing on Friday (2/6). We met our first guide Amelia - she was GREAT - we had basically 1 day to see all of Beijing and I think we did a GREAT job... We went to the Forbidden City - it was unbelievable!!

We went to the GREAT Wall and Bob & I climbed up to the 3rd tower...Murry stayed back and took lots of pictures!! It was definitely a challenge - the steps vary in size and because I don't have the longest legs it was a lot of work to step up and even on the way down.

We went to a Jade factory, a Silk factory and had lunch in yet another tourist spot...basically you go to these stops in hopes that you buy stuff.. it was great to see. In addition to all of that - Murry and I ventured out a couple of times on our own. The last night before we left Beijing we ended up at the Pearl Market and we had a GREAT time - we ended up running into a very unique individual - her name was Charity and we spent some time shopping together - this is the place where you go and NEVER pay the price that is listed - always negotiate - we had an Excellent time!!

Beijing was AWESOME!! So I am really glad we went before our adventure of meeting our daughter began...Now I know you are all waiting to hear about our Meeting day...well - I will post that as soon as the pictures finish downloading...

Well, we finally have a date when we will have our daughter in our arms!!

Here is our itinerary:

2/5 Leave for China
2/6 Arrive in Beijing
2/7 Visit the Great Wall & the Forbidden City (we will have the final on this soon)
2/8 Leave for Nanchang
2/9 We finally meet Elena!!!
2/10 the Adoption becomes official!!
2/11 We visit her orphanage - I so can't wait to see where our little girl has spent the beginning of her life!
2/12 Visit the Temple of Tengwang Ge
2/13 Pick up Elena's passport
2/14 Leave for Guangzhou
2/15 Visit Guangzhou Xiangjiang Safari Zoo
2/16 Elena has her Medical visit and gets her Visa Photo
2/17 Visit The Six Banyan Temple
2/18 Our American Consulate appointment
2/19 Go to the American Consulate for taking oath and to pick up Elena's Visa!
2/20 We leave for home!!!

Me & Murry are excited - Bob is getting a bit more nervous as the date gets closer!!

This is going to be the LONGEST I have EVER been away from Bobby & Chance - I think this will be the HARDEST part of the entire trip!! I know they will be fine - we have so many people that will help watch over them - its just ME missing them that will be HARD!! The good thing is - is we are going to try to stay in contact with them via Video - hopefully it will work!! And although Melissa isn't my daughter - I fell as though she might as well be - I will also miss talking to her - how is she going to be able to survive without me (just kidding) I know she will be fine as well - but 2 weeks is a VERY long time!!

Wow, what an experience this will be!! Our parents as well as the rest of our friends and family are EAGERLY awaiting the arrival of our little ELENA - and FINALLY we can say without a DOUBT when that will be!! Hopefully, I will be able to continue to blog while we are in CHINA so please stay tuned!!

Waiting to travel...

Well, its official - we received our Travel Approval on 1/21 and we already have our Consulate appointment for 2/18. We are just waiting for our agency's contact to finalize the travel itinerary so we can book our flights!! The best part about this is it appears as though we will finally get to hold Elena in our arms on either the 9th or the 10th!! I can't begin to tell you how excited we are!!

By the looks of things we may be traveling 2/5 - in the meantime I am scrambling to get things done at home and at work - I can't wait to finally have this trip booked, our bags packed and on our way to meet our baby!!

Elena - Mommy, Daddy & Aunt Murry are coming!! We will be there soon!! We LOVE YOU!!

So much has happened in the past few months - so I am going to do brief catch up:

Bobby took 1st in Sheet Metal for the State in Skills USA and his cousin Sam took 1st in practical nursing!

Chance & Lizzy had a GREAT track season!

Bobby graduated from High School!! We ARE SO VERY PROUD OF HIM!!

Chance's end of the school year/birthday party!

We did Relay for life again this year - it's such a touching experience to be there and support this great cause!

Chance joined the swim team and is group took 1st in the boys 11-12 year old division!

We had a GREAT time on vacation @ the beach this summer!!

Chance did the National Guard camp again this year with a bunch of his cousins - each color was a different division - as you can see we had all of the divisions covered!

Luke's first day of school - I was so excited to be there - I remember taking his mom (my niece) on her first day!!

Chance's 1st day of school - his books weigh almost as much as he does!!

The 3 Amegos...they decided to dress the same for a wedding we went to - the wedding was fun but seeing them together as they all walked in was priceless!!

My friend Nicole & I worked on our company picnic - here is a picture of Nicole with her family & me with mine

Mom & Dad on their 50th Wedding Anniversay! They didn't want an anniversary party so we elected to do a paint party instead and we painted their living room & entry way - it turned out really nice but the best part was - all of us kids worked on it together!

Peter, Chance & Charlie - this was Peter's first time staying with us! We were very lucky to be able to host Peter at our house for a month while his forever family was being found!!

Our group of Trick or Treaters! It was a Fun night!! I didn't think Peter would ever get tired!

Our Agency did an adoption picnic - it was a beautiful day and a GREAT event - I was lucky enough to win a really nice baby stroller!

March & April were crazy months...
Chance had his tonsils out the day before his 11th birthday!! Needless to say - not party - so we decided to do what we've done in the past and that is postpone his birthday until the summer - so on the last day of school we will have a end of the school year party/birthday party!!

I went to Atlanta for work and fun! I worked an event and after spent the weekend visiting friends:

I visited Terry & Mike and their puppy MoJo - we had a GREAT time catching up and seeing different parts of Atlanta!! MoJo was my new best friend!! I can't thank them enough for all they did to make my visit so much fun - we spent an evening out at a comedy show and shopping the next day!!

Mike, Terry and I met up with my other friends in Atlanta - Anne, Andy & Zoe - we went to dinner and after dinner I went home with Anne and her family...we had a GREAT time catching up as well - I especially enjoyed spending time with Zoe - she is truly an Amazing little girl - she loves to draw, play games and just have fun! We went to the Atlanta Aquarium and then to the Varsity for lunch before I had to head back to the airport - it was a FUN filled four days!! Anne & Andy I hope that our little girl grows up to be just like Miss Zoe!!

Easter was early this year - we had a GREAT time visiting all of our family - Bobby informed me that he is too old for the Easter egg hunt - so this year the eggs that usually lead to where the baskets are hidden were hung in a bag on his bedroom door and he had to find his Easter basket all on his own - it was rather fun to watch especially since the Easter basket was in the bottom of the laundry - he must have checked there several times before he decided to take the laundry out...I told him if he wants the basket then the least he could do is find it...one of these years he is going to tell me he is too old for the basket as well but for now since he still wants the candy he will continue to look for the basket!
Chance did an Easter egg hunt at his Mommom & Poppop's and the squirrel found the egg first - look what it did to what was in the egg (& no not all of his eggs had money in them but this one the squirrel wanted!!)

In April we (Terry, Lizzy, Chance & me) decided to take a road trip and we headed to Busch Gardens in Virginia.

January/February 2008

We always have a lot going on and January/February 2008 was no different! Chance participated in Wrestling and Basketball - he basically had practice or a game/meet every day for two months!! He was very determined to work hard so that he could do well....

Chance may be little but he is tough!! He's weight was 57 lbs but because he was in 5th grade the weight class he had to wrestle in was 62 - 65 lbs - he did pretty good for being so little. Chance's wrestling team won their first school meet in 2 years - they are a very small group and it is hard to compete against a team that can fill most of the weight classes - ...the team had 7 pins and 7 wins by default or points - Chance was able to be part of the win.

This is Chance' basketball team - they only won one game but they had a lot of fun!

The band (KNOXX) is a group of friends/neighbors - they are a lot of fun to listen to!! We have a GREAT time when we go!!

January 17th Erica (my GREAT-niece) turned ONE!!

February 17th Dylan (my GREAT-Nephew) turned ONE!! TinkerBelle turned TWO in February!! Bobby & Tink posing for her birthday picture!!

Lots of Birthdays this month but there was ALSO one VERY IMPORTANT date that happened in the month of February - we were officially logged in for TWO YEARS!! Still not sure when we might be getting our referrals - but if we are lucky it will be in the 2008!!

Lots of other fun & exciting things happening but I will save that for another post!

In early December I went to NY with Lizzy & her mom (Terry) for Lizzy's school field trip - we had a GREAT time!
I love visiting NY during the Holiday's - there is so much to do...

We decided to put our Christmas Tree in our Florida room - it was a bit cold out there but it was an amazing site to look at every evening through the glass doors of our family room - this is what the tree looked like before the gifts were opened on Christmas morning - please note that there are not very many decorations on the bottom of the tree because Tinkerbell's tale decided to redecorate (Chance picked a GREAT tree even if it was a little lopsided) - if you look closely you will see pictures of all of our animals of the past and pictures of our current ones as well as pictures/sports cards of the kids...I think the most precious gift in the world are my kiddos and my animals so what better decorations could there be

This is the Davis family on Christmas morning:
We video our Christmas every year and we finish the morning with a letter from Santa as well as the gifts in the stockings and each year we end the video saying the year (2007) and how thankful we are for all that we are blessed with! Hopefully 2007 will be our last Christmas without our little girl but who knows...the CCAA seems to be moving VERY SLOWLY...we can only hope at his point...

I have so much more to catch up on but for now I will do one month at a time...I will be back to do an update - hopefully I can get caught up in the next few days!! Bye for now!

We did a hayride

& Bonfire with friends - it was an awesome night!

Halloween was GREAT - Chance went trick or treating with his cousin!

We also did a corn maize it was GREAT - it took us 2 hours to get through it - we were on a mission to complete the map before we found our way out! http://www.cherrycrestfarm.com/cornmaze.asp - this is a great activity if you have the time - its definitely an all day thing!

I went on a field trip with Chance and the 5th grade. The field trip was at a state park and the kids learned about animal tracks and the animals Scat (pooh) - Chance looking really close at the scat they found and he is drawing it on his paper so that he can describe what it looked like (if you look close you can see the scat in the picture) - you never would have guess how excited the kids got when they found scat...

As For the Adoption Update:
Nothing New!!
I can't begin to tell you how many times lately, I have been asked - "Do you have the baby yet" - And my response is "I WISH" but NO! I just say that we are STILL in the waiting game and someday soon the game will finally be over and we will have the BEST prize of all "OUR DAUGHTER"!! One of the ladies said - she wasn't sure because she hadn't heard and I told her if she hadn't heard then there is NOTHING to hear!!! I also assured her that once we get our referral - the WORLD will know that our baby has been matched to us - I don't think there will be anyone out there that won't know!

Well it's been several months since I have updated our blog....not much has changed on the adoption front...CCAA is still chugging along - I guess you could say steady and slow but of course that is not the way we wish it would go....As of the beginning of October CCAA has matched through Nov 30, 2005 so next month will begin a new month of LIDs and hopefully a faster pace!!

Here is what we have been up to since our last posting:

We went to the beach for two weeks - we had AWESOME weather the entire time it was GREAT - Here is a picture of Bobby & Chance - it's so hard to believe how big they are getting.

Immediately after the beach - Chance went to the National Guard camp for a week in Bethany Beach along with is 5 cousins - here he is with 4 of them - is cousin David had left before we rounded everyone up for the picture....
We enjoyed the rest of the summer just lounging in the pool.....

First day of Bobby's Senior Year - it was also his first day driving to school!! It's SOOOO hard to believe that my 1st born (I'd say my baby but he would complain) is growing up and becoming SO independent!! Chance's 1st day of school in 5th grade at a new school - he is really liking it SO far....
We spent time with family here is a picture of me w/Erica 8 mos, Dylan 7 mos & Cadence 22 mos (my great nieces & nephew).

Chance did soccer with his new school - he had a lot of fun - it's hard to believe the soccer season is over!!We went to the first 2007 Philadelphia EAGLES Pre-Season Game -the Eagles won!! YEAH!!! The picture needs no description - the smiles say it all!!!

We went to Hershey park for a company picnic and at the end of the night it was freezing and Bobby got soaked!Lexi & Bob playing drums to the music that was playing....

& Tinker belle laughing at them because they were being silly!!

Catching Up on What is happening at home

Now that my Blog has started I need to get used to posting to it! So here is what has been happening:

June 6th was the Last day of School & every year we have a last day of school party with Chance's class - the weather was GREAT and all of the kids had a blast!! Here is a picture of Chance blowing out the candles on the brownies - every year I have done the birthday cake and each time I end up throwing half of it away - the brownies was a GREAT idea and after two trays there was none left!

June 15th/16th I did my first Relay for Life - for those of you who don't know - it is a way to raise money for Cancer Research - we started walking @ 6:00PM and stopped walking around 10:30AM - we had a few breaks here and there but over all I walked approx. 13 miles - that's a lot of walking with hardly any sleep. We had a GREAT team - we raised over $5,500 & it was a very memorable event. Here is a picture of my friends - who are some of the bravest individuals I know - they are all Cancer survivors!! Keep Smiling ladies - this day was for you!!

June 18th - The 153rd M.P. Unit of the Delaware National Guard left for their Deployment to Iraq - they are scheduled to be gone for a year. It was a very SAD day to see our troops leave. Among them are: my cousin's husband (Ed) - the father of two beautiful little girls; & one of our neighbors (Michael). These individuals are only a few of the 150 individuals that left - we pray for their safe return home!!
June 28th - I joined the China Wait Loss Mom's group and for the first time I have actually written down my goal - so we will see how long it takes me to get to it!! No pressure just determination!

And Finally - We did a camping weekend at the end of the month @ Killen's State Park, DE! We had a GREAT time both camping and at the water park. Here are some pictures!!

Getting Started!!

Well, I have finally started my Blog.....I have been reading so many and have been really wanting to get started - so here it goes...

Our time line begins like this:
8/88 My husband Bob and I were Married and from the beginning we have always known that we would adopt - it was just a matter of when!!

5/90 Our first child was born - Bobby - Wow - it's hard to believe that he is 17 NOW!!

5/92 - 5/95 We tried to have another baby and the doctors told us that if I didn't get pregnant in a year then we wouldn't be able to....long story...but after a while we knew that if we didn't have another baby that we would again some day because as I said we had ALWAYS planned to adopt!!

7/96 One year & two months later - I was pregnant

3/97 Our Second son was born - thus being the name - CHANCE - and Chance is now 10

6/04 We moved into another home (& last one - because we are NEVER moving again!)

7/05 We confirmed that we were ready to begin the Adoption process and here we are...
